SAN DIEGO — Major League Soccer’s newest team, San Diego FC, made history last week with the signing of Hirving “Chucky” Lozano to a four-year contract.
You can be a part of history and witness ChuckyMania this Thursday, June 13 starting at 7:30 p.m. at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. San Diego FC is holding a community celebration to welcome the Mexico City native to San Diego County.
The special event is free to the public and will give fans the chance to hear from Chucky and enjoy live musical performances from global reggaeton singer, Lunay.

- Doors open at 6 p.m., the event starts on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park.

- There is a two-ticket per-person limit.
- This is a standing-room only event; chairs will not be provided.
- Tickets are non-transferrable.
- Outside food and beverages are not permitted inside the venue, though food and beverage will be available for sale inside the venue.
The announcement
The club made the announcement June 6 and said Lozano, 28, was acquired as the first Designated Player in San Diego FC history and signed the winger to a four-year contract through the end of the 2028 MLS season with two option years.
According to the announcement, San Diego FC reached an agreement with Lozano’s current club, PSV Eindhoven, of the Eredivisie in the Netherlands where Lozano will remain for the remainder of 2024. He will join the San Diego FC January 1, 2025.
“Signing a player of the international stature of ‘Chucky’ Lozano is the biggest possible endorsement of our project in San Diego,” said San Diego FC Owner and Chairman, Sir Mohamed Mansour. “His journey from Pachuca, Mexico to the world stage resonates with how Right to Dream provides opportunities for talent everywhere, and we hope that story can inspire and motivate the next generation of talent in San Diego and around the world.”
The club said the Mexico City native joins SDFC after a career in Europe and Mexcio and Lozano, "has established himself as one of the most dynamic wingers in the sport."
