RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. — The Rancho Valencia Resort in Rancho Santa Fe was just selected as the number resort in the country, according to Travel + Leisure Magazine.
Laura MciIver is the general manager and is very proud.
"Why would you go anywhere else?" she said.
The resort is set in a non-descript area of Rancho Santa Fe. So what does it take to get to this rarified air?
"Paying attention to what our guests want, how we present ourselves... it's personalized attention," Mcilver said.
Add to that where you stay.
"All of our rooms are casitas... you're not sharing a building with big hallways," she said.
Beyond that, there are accommodations for a large family.
"We are at Casa Valencia, you get all the services of Rancho Valencia."
The resort is an open setting.
"You're walking to the pools, the spa, the tennis courts and open spaces."
During the past year much has been upgraded.
"We just renovated the spa with three new facial rooms."
That includes the lounge and reflecting pool.
"Locals are welcome and after the spa can go to the pool, meditate, or work with a trainer."
The pool spa is geared for adults and tennis is handled by Pro Eduardo Sánchez
"One of the things that makes us special is is our employees... some have been here since we opened in 1989."
You also get access to transportation.
"We have a Bentley program and you can take one out."
And of course the food matches... with the exquisite Pony Room. OK that's all good, but how much does it cost?
"Our average rate is $1,200 a night."
You're worth it...aren't you?
