SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Heavy fog is likely in much of San Diego County tonight and Monday, the National Weather Service warned.
"We're expecting dense fog to occur mainly 5 to 10 miles inland, including coastal mesas throughout San Diego," NWS forecaster James Thomas said. "The fog will make for a potentially hazardous morning commute Monday, and bring delays to some of the coastal airports."
Thomas said a dense fog advisory will be in effect between 10 p.m. tonight and 9 a.m. Monday.
A dense fog advisory means visibility will frequently be reduced to less than one-quarter mile. Motorists are urged to slow down during such conditions and use their low-beam headlights, and to leave plenty of distances between themselves and other vehicles.
Very low visibility will likely make the morning rush-hour drive more treacherous on streets and freeways, the NWS warned.
