A mild and dry weekend ahead as King tides return | San Diego Local Forecast

Expect passing clouds with temperatures slightly below normal for the weekend, then a slight warm up into next week.

SAN DIEGO — San Diegans saw a bit of whiplash this week as the first half of the week brought strong Santa Ana winds and critical fire danger before winds shifted and a nearby trough brought showers during the second half of the week. Expect mild conditions to start the weekend. Day temperatures will be slightly cooler than normal temperatures and decreasing cloud cover. While the morning is filled with dense clouds, the afternoon should move us toward relatively clear blue skies.

An onshore breeze picked up Friday afternoon with stronger winds favored in the mountains and the desert. Winds will continue to die down through the weekend.

The light rain was hit-or-miss and rather light, mainly no more than 0.10", favoring areas along and west of the mountains. Expect dry conditions as we move through the weekend and into early next week.

There will be an extra pull due to the approaching full moon on Sunday. This will also lead to minor tidal overflow onto boardwalks and in parking lots at some San Diego County beaches through Sunday morning. As a result, the Beach Hazard Statement has been extended.

A weak ridge will build in and bring us more sunshine with some passing clouds by into the weekend. Another fast-moving weak disturbance will sweep through the region on Saturday. This will bring abundant high clouds on Saturday with a slight chance for patchy drizzle overnight.

By the middle of next week a weak Santa Ana possible. Expect mostly sunny skies,  drier air, and mild temperatures. This will mean elevated fire weather concerns.
