SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. — The National Weather Service in San Diego on Thursday issued a freeze warning that remained in effect until 9 a.m., Friday.
San Diego communities that were under the freeze warning included: Escondido, El Cajon, San Marcos, La Mesa, Santee, and Poway.
Residents in those areas saw overnight temperatures in the low 30s, with a few areas in the mid to upper 20s.
Frost and freeze conditions can kill crops, other and other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Residents were warned to take measures to protect their plants and animals from the cold.
