SAN DIEGO — With a nearby low pressure system moving through the region, expect passing high clouds and sunshine with temperatures in the near seasonal range on Wednesday. The low will also extend the marine layer a little more inland. This will result in low clouds at the coast and patchy inland fog. Visibility will be down to a mile or less at times through tomorrow morning.
By the end the week, a ridge of high pressure will build over the West. This will lead to much warmer temperatures as the air dries and marine layer clouds clear on Friday and Saturday. Temperatures will trend 10 to 15 degrees warmer than normal under clear skies. Expect highs in the upper 60s to low 70s along the coast and widespread upper 70s to low 80s inland.
Additionally, the gusty offshore winds, out of the east and northeast, by the end of the week will also dry us out even more. Relative humidity values look to drop into the teens. This will prompt elevated fire weather concerns, especially inland. Please avoid outdoor burning if at all possible during this time frame.
WEDNESDAY TEMPERATURES:
SEASONAL (AVERAGE) DAYTIME HIGHS:
- Coastal highs near 66 to 68 degrees
- Inland valley highs near 67 degrees
- Mountain highs near 52 degrees
- Desert highs near 71 degrees
AT THE COAST:
Our recent elevated surf of 3 to 5 feet has subsided. Expect the surf to be 1 to 3 feet with a low risk of rip currents on Wednesday.
Onshore flow looks to temporarily pick up on Sunday. This will lead to a slip in temperatures countywide into the start of next week. We could also be dealing with another Santa Ana winds event by next week. More details in the days to come.
