SDG&E: More than 88,000 San Diegans at risk of losing power this week

The public safety shutoffs could impact people throughout the county this week.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. — Due to weather conditions, SDG&E announced possible power shutoffs on Tuesday. 

Santa Ana winds are expected over the next few days that could linger into the weekend. SDG&E is worried about debris flying into power lines. 

Several neighborhoods in San Diego County and Southern Orange County are facing these possible power shutoffs. These tentatively include Aguanga, Alpine, Boulevard, Barona Reservation, Campo, Campo Reservation, Chula Vista, Descanso, Encinitas, El Cajon, Escondido, Ewiiaapaayp Reservation, Fallbrook, Jacumba, Jamul, Jamul Reservation, Julian, La Jolla Reservation, Lakeside, La Posta Reservation, Mount Laguna, Nestor, Oceanside, Pala, Pala Reservation, Palomar Mountain, Pauma Reservation, Pauma Valley, Penasquitos, Pine Valley, Potrero, Poway, Ramona, Ranchita, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Santa Fe, Rincon Reservation, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano (East) San Pasqual Reservation, San Marcos, Santa Ysabel, Santa Ysabel Reservation, Sorrento Valley, Sycuan Reservation, Valley Center, Viejas Reservation and Warner Springs.

SDG&E said the Red Flag warning could impact all of Southern California, so preparation is crucial. Areas in the East County could experience dry wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. The winds are projected to peak Thursday morning.
