SAN DIEGO — Now that clouds have come and gone, offshore, Santa Ana winds will contribute to a strong drying trend across Southern California this week with the most intense winds Wednesday night through Thursday morning.
This will lead to a dry, sunny weather pattern this week. Winds will come from the east and northeast and travel over coastal mountain slopes, compressing the air, which also heats it and dries it out. This will lead to high fire danger across the county due to low humidity. There's also a good chance that afternoon temperatures will reach above normal at times, west of the mountains. On the flip side, the mountains and desert will be cooler than usual.
A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for San Diego County. While the entire county should be on alert, the highest concerns will be in the inland valleys and mountains with the strongest winds on Wednesday night through Thursday morning.
TUESDAY TEMPERATURES:
SEASONAL (AVERAGE) DAYTIME HIGHS:
- Coastal highs near 70 to 73 degrees
- Inland valley highs near 77 degrees
- Mountain highs near 63 degrees
- Desert highs near 84 degrees
