Santa Ana winds will continue to calm as fire weather concerns still plague the backcountry through Friday morning | San Diego Local Forecast

Offshore winds have peaked over the last couple of days. Winds are starting to calm and humidity is rising. An alert continues for mountains through Friday morning.

SAN DIEGO — Santa Ana winds have contributed to a strong drying trend across Southern California this week. The high winds have led to a dry, sunny weather pattern this week. Winds have been out of the east and northeast and travel over coastal mountain slopes, compressing the air, which also heats it and dries it out.

National Weather Service offices across the region call this a "particularly dangerous situation" as any fires that start have the potential to spread rapidly in this window. Because of this, Fire Weather (Red Flag) Warnings, Wind Advisories, High Wind Warnings, are scattered across the region amid rising concern of low humidity and gusty offshore winds.

A Fire Weather Warning has been issued for San Diego County inland valleys and mountains. The warning will expire at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday for the inland valleys. The warning will expire at 11:00 a.m. on Friday for the mountains.
