How to share your photos, videos with CBS 8 | Near Me

SAN DIEGO — Have you ever witnessed something, took a picture and thought to yourself - this would be great for San Diego news? Well, we want you to share it with CBS 8 through our FREE mobile app available for both Apple and Android devices.

If you are out and about and see something you think is newsworthy, snap a picture, open up the CBS 8 app and share it with us.  Is there a sunset in your neighborhood that is beyond amazing? Is there a picture you took at Balboa Park that shows San Diego in its best light?  Or did you witness a fire in your neighborhood? Please share it with us through the app.

How to download the CBS 8 app:

The CBS 8 app is a FREE download in the Apple iOS store as well as in the Android Google Play store.

How to share content in the CBS 8 app:

1. Open the CBS 8 app on your smartphone
2. On the bottom right, you'll see a button called 'Near Me'—click it
3. Click the orange button in the top left part of the screen that says "Share with Us"
4. Upload your photo or video directly from your device. You can upload up to three photos or one video at a time.
5. Fill out the fields: give it a title, a credit, your email, and please tell us where it was taken
6. Every submission is reviewed and once approved, will show up in the Near Me section of the app.

How to view approved photos & videos in the CBS 8 app:

1. Open the CBS 8 app on your smartphone
2. On the bottom right, you'll see a button called 'Near Me'—click it
3. A map will pop up, zoom in or out to find photos and videos submitted by other people as well as CBS 8 stories. 
4. A black pin means it's from CBS 8 and an orange pin means it was shared by someone in the community through the Near Me feature, like you!
5. You can even search for a specific location using the search bar at the bottom. For example, if you type in "Escondido", it will automatically take you to photos and stories from that area.
6. You can also use the Filter to pick which topics you want to see as well as how recent.
