Two men, 18 and 23, were killed Saturday night near 1700 Newton Avenue.

SAN DIEGO — San Diego Police have made an arrest in connection with the fatal shooting of two men on Saturday in Barrio Logan.

Guillermo David Gonzalez, a 23-year-old National City resident, has been arrested and accused of carjacking, robbery and two murders.

According to a preliminary investigation, three people were gathered around a parked vehicle in the area of 1700 Newton Avenue when Gonzalez allegedly approached them and started shooting at two men. Police said Gonzalez then got into a 2012 Kia Forte, which belonged to one of the victims, kicked a woman out of the backseat, and fled.

An 18-year-old man died at the scene, and a 23-year-old man died after being transported to a local hospital. The victims' identities have not yet been released because their families haven't been notified.

The following day, Gonzalez was found in the Kia in the Los Angeles area. The Los Angeles Sheriff's Office assisted in taking Gonzalez into custody in the 1000 block of San Gabriel Blvd in Rosemead, California. He was then booked into San Diego County Jail on two counts of murder, one count of carjacking and one count of robbery.

Detectives are continuing to investigate and are specifically looking for security camera footage from the area. Anyone with information should call the Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
