SAN DIEGO — An illegal gambling den that was operating incognito inside a San Diego home has been dismantled by the San Diego Police Department.

SDPD’s Vice Unit, along with SWAT teams, served a search warrant at the home located on the 4200 block of El Cajon Blvd in Kensington on June 20. The search warrant stemmed from tips that reported that potential illegal activity was occurring at the home.

According to San Diego Police, 23 illegal gambling machines, narcotics, paraphernalia and $4,700 in cash were recovered during the search warrant.

San Diego police said nine people were inside the home engaging in illegal gambling during the search warrant operation.

Two misdemeanor citations were issued by police for possession of a controlled substance and visiting a gambling den.

“All individuals were educated and warned about participating in this illegal activity and that if they are contacted for illegal gambling again, they may be subject to enforcement,” SDPD said.

If you see illegal activity in your area, contact the San Diego Police non-emergency line at 619-531-2000.
