CHULA VISTA - Police were asking the public for help Saturday identifying the person who stabbed a 49-year-old man to death in his Chula Vista apartment.
Officers responded at about 8 p.m. Friday to reports of a stabbing at the Terra Vista apartments in the neighborhood of Otay Ranch, according to the Chula Vista Police Department.
The victim was found unresponsive with multiple stab wounds in his apartment, police reported. He died at the scene.
According to witnesses, the suspect broke into the apartment wearing a mask, stabbed the victim and fled the scene. The suspect was wearing a dark hoodie and dark shorts.
"It's possible he fled on a motorized scooter with blue wheels, but investigators are still working to verify this as well as additional suspect information," police said.
The victim's identity was being withheld.
Police added that there does not appear to be a continued threat to the public connected to the attack.
