SAN DIEGO — Two liquor stores were robbed Wednesday night shortly before midnight in La Mesa and Oak Park.
The first robbery happened in La Mesa on Baltimore Drive around 11 p.m. The second robbery happened ten minutes later on 54th Street in Oak Park.
Police said five people ran into a liquor store on 54th Street, and two out of the five were armed. Police said they ran into the store and stole money from the cash register then fled the scene.
As of Thursday, police do not have the suspects' information available and no arrests have been made. They are still investigating what exactly happened at each robbery.
These two robberies happened as SDPD has been investigating a county-wide convenience store crime spree.
Eleven gas stations and liquor stores were robbed in about three hours on Tuesday night.
The first one started around 9:45 pm in Bonsall in North County. Then another store was robbed in Deer Springs and another in Mira Mesa.
Suspects walked into stores in Grant Hill, Barrio Logan, Lake Murray, Santee, La Mesa, and Spring Valley, and a final robbery happened shortly before 1 a.m. in Lakeside.
San Diego Police said they believe the same group of suspects are responsible for them all.
They say several people come into the store with guns and they steal cash or even the entire register. Authorities are still looking for the suspects and they say if they don't catch them, someone could get hurt.
CBS 8 has been in contact with the San Diego Police Department and the La Mesa Police Department trying to confirm more information.
SDPD is asking the public for assistance in this matter. They are asking that anyone with any information contact the Robbery Unit directly by calling (619) 531-2299 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-847.
