Padres honor late owner Peter Seidler with patches, donations

The San Diego Padres will honor the late chairman with the Peter Seidler Legacy Fund. Players will feature a patch dedicated to Sedlier on their jerseys for 2024.

SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Padres are paying respects to the former chairman and owner, Peter Seidler.

Padres players plan to honor Seidler's legacy by wearing a patch on their jerseys. Both the patch location on the uniforms and design will be revealed prior to the start of Spring Training.

Seidler passed away on November 14. Fans paid their respects in waves at Petco Park as well as creating a large mural to honor Seidler.

The mural honoring the beloved late chairman and owner can be seen outside of Stone Brewing in Little Italy located at 1202 Kettner Blvd.

Petco Park plans to host a public Celebration of Life for Seidler on March 22, 2024, honoring his extraordinary life, philanthropy and contributions to San Diego.

Fans are welcome to pay their respects. Specific details on timing and other information will be announced at a later date.

The Padres and the Seidler family have announced the creation of the Peter Seidler Legacy Fund, which would raise funds for projects "that align with Peter's passion and devotion to the betterment of the city."

As part of Giving Tuesday, all donations (up to $1 million) will be matched by the Padres Foundation, Padres players, the Padres ownership, and the Seidler Family.

To donate, visit the Padres' website. Contributions will go towards helping underserved communities in San Diego and northern Baja.
